Things to do in Cromer – The Cromer Treasure Hunt

I love everything about Cromer – the sand and shingle beach, the iconic pier, the coffee shops, and the narrow alleyways steeped in history. It’s one of my favourite places in Norfolk. The treasure hunt is a fun way of exploring this beautiful Victorian seaside town with the kids.

The hunt takes you on a 1.8 mile guided walk, solving clues as you go, around the town. The route begins and ends at the car park on Cadogen Road, and will take about one-and-a-half hours to complete. I recommend you take more time than this however and stop for coffee and cake at one of the amazing cafes on route.

Cafes in Cromer

I’m a great advocate of either stopping off for coffee and cake during a treasure hunt, or rewarding yourself with lunch for successfully completing a treasure hunt trail and solving the final clue. There are lots of great places in Cromer to do both but, having asked the local community and explored the options ourselves (all in the name of research), I’ve listed my favourite cafes below in no particular order.

Rocket House Cafe

rocket house cafeThe Rocket House Cafe was opened by Robbie and Genevieve in 2006. It has a fresh modern feel, serves a range of delicious cakes and snacks, and is a fabulous place for lunch.

We love the location of the cafe in particular. The cafe is above the RNLI Henry Blogg Lifeboat museum – you can sit inside on cooler days, or outside on warmer days, and take in the most amazing sea views from your table.
